RUMlogNG App Reviews
RUMlogNG is an excellent logging software for Ham on Mac OS X ! We can find many many useful tools for the DX’ers or for the casual ragchewer. DX cluster, Maop, Grayline and also the ability to send very easily your LOTW logbook. It is also FREE to use, even on the iPad and iPhone version. I strongly suggest that if you like this software, also support the developper by sending a donation. Best 73 !
It works flawlessy for me, even in my old mid 2009 13” macbook pro. Import from old logbook done without any problem. It is synced in real time with my Kenwood ts 590 with a simple USB cable. The best and most complete free logging application for Mac! 73 IU2DXF
I like RumLogNG and was hoping the upgrade would include printing addresses like is promoted. No matter what I do, the add print address selection is always dimmed. Even went back (and nearly lost) and created a new logbook from scratch. Otherwise, its pretty good. Needs better documentation.
I have been a long time user of RUMlog and now the new RUMlogNG. I have seen many changes, additions and I am proud to be a part of some of them. Tom is extremely responsive and has on many occasions, gone above and beyond to help and troubleshoot. The toolset in RUMlogNG is powerful, intelligent and clever for the hungry DXer. Looking forward to seeing this fine application bloom. 73 GL DX - WW2DX
Won’t import my ADIF file
Won’t import my ADIF file from Aether. That is the primary test for any logging program. Can it import my existing QSOs from other programs? Fail.
I’ve used all of the major OS X logbook programs and find that RUMlogNG best suits my needs. Filled with tools for the DXer written by a DXer, RUMlogNG is unmatched in capability. Excellent support for LoTW and ClubLog (along with EQSL) as well as paper QSLing with built-in label printing capability. The DX Cluster tools are unsurpassed on OS X; offering you exactly what you need to know and providing the option to separate “new fills” by Paper, LoTW or both. I can’t recommend this logbook strongly enough!
Does not support Yaesu FT-920
Does not list Yaesu FT-920 so I have to assume it is not supported.
Even though Im not a DXer (yet), I use this WONDERFUL, full-featured software daily to log all my QSOs. I really like the main logging windows tight integration with QRZ.com so I can instantly pull up full details and a map on potential contacts. I cant believe this amazing software is FREE! Ill be making a donation to thank the author.
Great for CW practice
I just figured out how to use this app to practice CW on my Mac with my WinKeyer USB. It decodes flawlessly!!!! I highly recommend it for practice if you’re a Mac user and you’re into CW / Morse Code.
Great logging software and iOS companion app
I use this app just about every day. The fact that it's so powerful and free is mindblowing. CAT control works great at home, and it's great on the road when doing light contesting. I use the iOS app when hiking with the HT and they sync through my iCloud account nicely. (PS: consider donating on their webpage)
Happy for the most part
I'm happy with this app for the most part. I had one windows pc I was using Logger32 on, but wanted to isolate my gaming and ham operations, so I built a second pc from parts I had, it didn't work out. So I installed this app on a mac mini M2. My only complaint is there isn't a direct transceiver selection for the Kenwood TS-890. A few features don't populate when you use the 990 setting. Hoping this gets looked into at some point.
Wonderful Radio Program
Easy to use. Lots of great features.
Minus Three Stars for Spamming Me with Popups
If you pester me for a review every 30 seconds, this is what happens. Otherwise, it's an awesome application.
Does not function as advertised
Will not connect to my IC-7300 even though driver is loaded on my mac. Will not look up QSOs even though my hamqth credentials are entered in the preferences.
RumLog Best Ham Log for Mac
This logbook app for the mac has lots of great features and is native to Mac. I've tried several others, but this is the best. So good I gave a donation to the developer.
RumLogNG
Works better than any other logging program I have tried.
Wow, what a delight to use on my macbook pro
I just atarted using the app, but am delighted with the program's logging and operation features, and integration with my yaesu ftdx10 radio. Truly a wonderful program.
Great once you learn it...
This is a very good log for Mac. Works well with LoTW and eQSL. Has a sperate contest log, very nice. Exports into needed formates. I do have to change the file extention from ".adif" to ".adi" for some but it imports fine afterthat. Flows very nice when working with WSJT-X. You just have to spend some time setting up the software and learning the menus.
Great
Great
My "go to" logging program
Super capable and flexible. I'm using it on a desktop, laptop, iPad and iPhone all sharing the same log. The developer is also highly responsive.
Best Logging and Contest Software for MAC Hams
I have been using RumLog and it's upgraded version RumlogNG since the beginning. It keeps getting better and better. Tom does an outstanding job in keeping the program up to date with frequent updates. He is open to suggestions from users and is always responsive when questions arise. There is also a RUMLOGNG users group on FaceBook. If you are a ham that uses a Mac computer, RumlogNG is the only way to go. While the program is free, I hope that everyone will send donations to Tom, as I do. W3FOX
Have used for several years and Love It
This is by far one of the best Ham Radio apps I use. I like the flexability and filtering in the DX Spots window, integration with other app (WSJT-X, FLDigi, etc). Top notch program.
Great Mac Logger
Been using RUMLogNG for over a year now, and am still discovering features. Seamlessly exports to L0tW, eQSL and ClubLog, and SOTAData. Has contesting windows. CAT control for my G90 and KX2 with KX2 Control window. Easily imports from SKCC Logger and avoids duplicates. Manages QSL card records and on and on...
Great Logger for Apple Ecosystem
I love this logging app and continue to find out more and more functionality that makes it even better. My favorite feature is the ease at which you can sync your logbook over the cloud in near real time. I also like that it can easily pull data from several online databases like QRZ and HamQTH. Interfacing with LOTW and eQSL is seamless and works well. If you use apple products, this is the logging program to get. The one bug that I have noticed, however, is that when I try to log a 2m contact on the desktop application, it will never recognize the frequency as a 2m frequency. I have to go onto my iphone and edit the frequency (essentially, reinput the digits) and it will fix the problem. This is the only glitch that I've noticed in an otherwaise awesome program.
Wonderful Logger
I currently use this logger for nearly all of my logging needs. It is feature packed with a thoughtful user interface. Thomas Lindner is very responsive with feature requests and problem/bug fixes. The contest module is so good, I no longer use N1MM. I also have RumLogNG2Go for my ipad and iphone. I have used multiple logging programs and this one beats them all. Thanks Thomas for such a wonderful product
Incredible.
Best software hands down for a Mac owner and an IC7300 owner. Works really well.
Great Logger
Has everything a Mac user like me needs for SWL/MW DX'ing and logging, when almost everything out there is Windows-based. Being able to use a large scope on the iMac rather than the small one on the radio is wonderful for my aging eyes.
Great, highly stable and versitle program
This is a great logging application. I enjoy using unix based software with amateur radio as I never have any issues with the stability of the system. Using online QSL is quick and easy. The real-time sync with clublog is great and I also enjoy the seperate, yet intergrated, contest logger. This is perfect for someone like me that contests casually, but this provides a competitive edge when needed. I've never had a problem with the CAT control, works great with both of my 590's. Absolutely worth downloading and donating.
Great app, love it
Great app, use it daily and I don't even use the rig control features!
Good program, for general and contest logging
Tom has written a very versatile logging program. It has many features (ie grayline, QRZ integration, etc.)- too numerous to comment on. The key features - entering logged QSOs, importing/exporting ADIFs, LOTW integration - work flawlessly. Transceiver and Winkey connections work well. The contest module is great fun to use. It has many contests pre-configured, and it includes all of the ‘modern’ features one would expect: ESM, Super Check partial and so on. It is well worth downloading, spending a few hours getting to know it, and a donation if you use it on a regular basis.
All I need and more
Easy to use. It has all the features I was looking for. Worth downloading and donating.
Have just begun exploring - very promising
I have just begun to really explore this program. So far, I am impressed. A few problems I have encountered have been easily overcome. I especially like the ability to upload contacts to LotW without any issues. Previous logging programs required multiple steps, whereas, this one can do it in a coulple of clicks! I will continue to use it and come back to update my review. The 4-stars are only due to lack of experience. If it continues to function, I will re-rate to five stars.
Finally a quality Logging program for the Mac
A challenge to get a handle on this program as it is a swiss army knife and a complete feature rich application. I am looking forward to radio control on my Icom 7100 and have imported over 250 JT65 contacts from eQSL. Now to get my OMISS and eCARS in the logger and try to move a little away from the PC log programs. My congratulations to the programmer!
Excellent !!!
I have been following the progress by Thomas for about 8 years with this software. It is excellent with very good integration with LoTW, eQSL, ClubLog etc etc. I will be donating, thanks Thomas.
Good, but where are the changes
I like RumLogNG and was hoping the upgrade would include printing addresses like is promoted. No matter what I do, the add print address selection is always dimmed. Even went back (and nearly lost) and created a new logbook from scratch. Otherwise, its pretty good. Needs better documentation.
